The science behind it
Moodiness is not one thing. Research on affect dynamics separates three: how far mood moves across a day (variability), how small an event is enough to move it (reactivity), and how long it stays moved once it has (inertia). Two people described as moody can be opposite on these — one swings wide and recovers by lunch, the other barely moves but stays down for days. This test asks how often each has shown up over the last two weeks, on a five-point frequency scale, with items written for MoodyWonder. It is not a mood-disorder screener and is not modelled on one. A high score is a pattern worth talking about, not a result in itself. Read the full methodology →
This is a screening-style questionnaire, not a diagnosis. It reads how often certain experiences happen to you and compares that with other people; only a clinician can assess what it means for you. If the result worries you, take it to one.

Common questions
Am I bipolar, or just moody?
This test cannot tell you, and no online test can. Bipolar disorder is a clinical diagnosis with specific criteria — episodes lasting days to weeks, changes in sleep and energy, not only in mood — that a clinician assesses in conversation. What this test can do is show you the shape of your moodiness: how far it moves, how easily, and how long it stays. If the linger score is high and the low stretches last for days, that is worth bringing to a doctor. Bring the result; it is a better starting point than "I think I'm moody".
Is being moody a bad thing?
It is a trait with costs and uses. High reactivity notices things flat people miss, and wide swings often come with wide highs. The cost lands on the people around you and on the plans that get cancelled. The test does not grade you; it tells you which of the three facets is doing the work, because that decides what helps.
Two weeks is short. What if it was a strange fortnight?
Then the score reflects the strange fortnight, which is what a two-week window is for. Retake it in a month. Moodiness that shows up across windows is a pattern; moodiness that shows up in one is usually the fortnight.
Is it really free?
Yes. The scored result — three facets, your type, the shareable card — is free, always. Nothing in a result is for sale.
