How Stressed Am I · type
The High Flame
The amount has gone up and nothing has collapsed. What matters here is which of the three pillars is carrying it — the answer is not the one people expect.
What this type is
Your answers put you above what most adults report, without all three being loud at once. This is the most common band and the most workable one. The shape it usually describes is a stretch that has gone on longer than a stretch should: more arriving than you can get to, a body that has started to comment — sleep, stomach, jaw, a shorter fuse than you like — and a margin that has quietly thinned, so that a cancelled train or an unexpected email now costs more than it used to.
This is the part worth reading twice, because the three bars mean different things and the difference decides what helps. A high load with a reserve that is still holding is a hard stretch being paid for properly. It is tiring and it is not alarming; it has an end, and the machinery that recovers you is still working. Now the reverse case, which reads as milder and is not: a load that is not especially high sitting on a reserve that is empty. That combination is the more serious of the two, because it says the problem is not the amount of work. It is that recovery has stopped happening — sleep that does not restore, no part of the day that properly switches off, no slack for one more thing. A thin reserve under an ordinary load will not be fixed by a lighter week, because a lighter week is what it is already failing at. People read their total and conclude they are busy. Read the bars: busy with capacity and depleted without it are different situations wearing the same number.
One honest limit on what to do next. Techniques — breathing, mindfulness, exercise, the whole standard list — work on strain and on reserve. They are genuinely good at that. They do almost nothing to load, because load is not in you. If your score is mostly coming from the load bar, more technique will make you better at tolerating an amount, and the amount is the thing that is wrong. There is a second lever that is easier to reach than "do less": how much say you have over the order and the pace. The same quantity of work is a substantially different experience for someone who decides the sequence and someone who is handed it. Getting back some control is often more available, and more effective, than getting less work.

📊 The two high bars mean opposite things
High load with reserve still holding is a hard stretch being paid for properly — tiring, not alarming, and it has an end. An ordinary load on an empty reserve is the more serious one, because it says recovery has stopped happening rather than that there is too much to do. Read which one you are before deciding anything.
⚖️ Techniques do not reach the load
Breathing, mindfulness and exercise act on strain and on reserve, and they work there. They do almost nothing to how much is arriving. If your score comes mostly from the load bar, more technique makes you better at tolerating an amount that should not be tolerated — some stress is solved by reducing the source, not by raising your tolerance.
What produces this result
Every answer feeds one overall score, and that score falls into one of 3 bands. The bands are levels of the same thing, not different kinds of person.

This is a screening-style questionnaire, not a diagnosis. A high score is a reason to talk to someone who can assess properly.
