The Steady Mirror

Narcissism Spectrum · type

The Steady Mirror

You know what you are worth without needing it reflected back — and the cost is that you can undersell it when it matters.

What this type is

Your answers put you at the low end of the spectrum: you chose the plainer sentence in most pairs, including the ones where the confident sentence was true and would have cost nothing. Self-regard that does not need an audience is the healthiest place on this scale to live, and it is where most people who are easy to work with and easy to love sit.

What it gives you is steadiness. You do not need the room's approval to know what you did, you can give credit away without feeling poorer, and criticism lands as information rather than as an attack. People trust you with things because you do not need them to.

The friction is quieter than at the other end of the scale, and worth knowing. Low authority scores can mean a person who does not put their judgement forward even when it is the best in the room, and who gets managed by louder, less careful people as a result. Low exhibition can shade into being invisible in a culture that rewards being seen. If your authority bar is well below the other two, that is the reading to act on: the modesty is real and it is also, sometimes, a way of not having to be responsible for a call. Make one this month, out loud, with your name on it.

What people with this result notice

Four of the eight notes the test writes for this type; the rest come with your own result.

🍃 The modest answer was sometimes the wrong one

In several pairs the confident sentence was simply true and cost nothing to pick. If you chose the plainer one anyway, notice that reflex: it is a habit of not claiming, and it decides who gets heard in rooms where you had the best read.

🤝 Trust is your currency

People hand you things because you do not need them to. That is worth more than it looks from inside, and it is fragile in one specific way — it disappears the first time you keep a score. Do not start.

What produces this result

Every answer feeds one overall score, and that score falls into one of 3 bands. The bands are levels of the same thing, not different kinds of person.
