La ciencia detrás
Chronotype is the biological timing of your sleep–wake cycle, and it is a continuum: most people sit between the early and late extremes, and where you sit shifts with age (later in adolescence, earlier from the thirties on) and with light exposure. The classic instrument asks what you would choose if nothing forced you — when you would wake, when you feel sharpest, when you would go to bed — rather than what your schedule makes you do. This check follows that logic with eighteen situational items written for MoodyWonder, and adds a second reading: how rigid your pattern is, which decides how much a mismatched schedule costs you. Preguntas frecuentes
Can I change my chronotype?
You can shift it by an hour or so with consistent light and wake timing — morning light and a fixed wake time move it earlier, evening light moves it later. You cannot turn an owl into a lark. The useful move is usually to shift the schedule toward the body rather than the reverse.
Is being an owl bad for me?
Not in itself. What costs owls is the mismatch: a world scheduled for larks means owls run on chronic short sleep, and the health findings people attribute to being an owl mostly come from that. An owl who sleeps enough at the right hours is fine.
I am tired all the time — is this the test for that?
It might be part of it. If your chronotype and your schedule disagree by two hours or more, that mismatch produces exactly that tiredness. If they agree and you are still exhausted, the sleep quality check and the burnout check look at the other causes.
