Nerve came out as your strongest leadership quality. It is the willingness to act under uncertainty — to decide when the information is incomplete, to take the risk, to say the thing that will cost you, and to move when everyone else is waiting for someone to move first. Nerve is the quality crises reveal, and it cannot be taught to someone who does not have it.

The gift is that things get unstuck. You break stalemates, you take the hit, you make the call that had to be made, and you are steadier in real danger than most people are in ordinary meetings. Turnarounds, startups, emergencies, negotiations, and any situation where hesitation is the greatest risk are where you are at your best.

The friction is that speed and certainty are not the same thing, and you conflate them more than you admit. The fast decision was sometimes the wrong one, and the confidence that let you make it also made you slow to hear the objection. People who needed more time or more evidence can feel bulldozed, and a pattern of bold calls that half-worked can erode the trust the next call needs. Under pressure you double down. The work is to keep the nerve and add the pause: one deliberate check, before the strike, of what you would need to see to be wrong.
